Friday Fun Crop
Don't forget that tomorrow is our monthly Friday Fun Crop! I'm looking forward to a fun night with everyone already signed up. I'll be here creating - class samples and possibly a few of my own projects too. Food, fun, and getting creative - great way to spend a Friday night with the girls.

Tuesday Technique Samples
I love playing with different techniques and this month's selection is one of my favorites. There are many different ways to create an image transfer but I only selected three versions for September's technique class. The gel medium transfer is the pickiest technique of the bunch, but delivers a great image. The ink jet and water transfer method results in a soft, somewhat fuzzy image that is wonderful for a vintage feel. Packing tape transfer is one of my favorites to use, love the addition of shiny to the mix. More class samples coming tomorrow.

New Digital Scrapbooking Class

We have just added a new Digital Scrapbooking class in September. Sarah and Karla will be bringing us this wonderful introduction to digital scrapbooking, starting on Tuesday, September 21st. With digital scrapbooking, there is no printing pictures and no extra supplies that are needed. This course is an introduction to digital scrapbooking through a web-based company called Heritage Makers. This course is made up of two 2-hour sessions. You will create a 12x12 page and a 5x7 greeting card. You need some knowledge of the computer, a laptop computer (unless other arrangements are made with the instructor) and photos saved to a USB storage device or a CD. Can't wait for to check this class out myself.
We're In The News!
We are so excited to be featured in today's (8/20/10) issue of the Saginaw News. The article is about Old Town University's passion for lifelong learning. Pick up a paper or check the article out HERE.

September Calendar

Just finished putting some of September's classes on the website. Still have more classes, workshops and events to get up yet. More class samples to do too. Already working on October and November classes too. We have our Holiday Open House on the calendar now (November 7th, 2010) with more details coming soon.

The Travel Mini Album is too cute! We will have a couple of the kits for this mini album for sale at the Loft. Really like the Tuesday Techniques samples too. Love using chalk on paper crafts. Next month's techniques are image transfers. It'll be fun.

August and September

Can't believe that we are into the second week of August and September is right around the corner. The summer is flying by with fall and school almost here. We have two more weeks in our Youth Program - lots of fun stuff for the kids to do. My kids are looking forward to the Travels Through Time gatherings. Who wouldn't like having a prehistoric adventure, visiting ancient Egypt, finding pirate treasure and checking out the Wild West?? The kids photography class is going to be great. Love pictures taken from my kids perspective. I know that the painted frame, garden stone and painted apron will be lots of fun for the kids to do. Got to get in those last few fun filled weeks before school starts.
We're finishing up our September calendar. Plenty of interesting classes, workshops and events coming up. Just need to work out a few more details and verify info with the instructors. Once that is done everything will be put up on the website. A newsletter will be going out shortly after with the info too. Plenty to do around here this fall.

Sunflowers and Sun

It is another gorgeous summer day out here in Old Town Saginaw. We are enjoying every moment of it at Old Town University. So glad that the super hot and super humid weather is gone, for the moment. Makes painting a bit easier too.
Finished all the little painted touches to the One-Stroke painted Sunflower Welcome Plaque class sample now. Just need to put on the strap to hang it from. It turned out really cute. Love the background color, especially since I have a broken garden shovel in that color. How fun that I get ideas from making class projects. I'm planning on painting sunflowers on the shovel since the handle is broken and falling apart. Will make a very cute addition on my front door soon. So many great uses for these darling one-stroke sunflowers.

The kid's painted apron sample is completed too. I created a fun girl-y face for the sample but the kids will have other great ideas while in class. Love the spray fabric paint in the neon colors. Should be a ton of fun for the kids. I know my kids love to decorate their t-shirts with the sprays and fun stencils.
More samples yet to come - Kid's Painted Frame, Kid's Garden Stone, Travel Mini Album, the Technique tags (transfers), and the All Occasion Cards. Plenty of fun stuff to do and create at Old Town University in August. The September class calendar should be ready to post this week too. Busy, busy, busy around here this week.
